Culture of Avalon
Unity through Thought, Power through Culture, Glory through Discipline
☭ Propaganda & Military Life
Avalon is a militaristic society with deep cultural roots in propaganda performance, military parades, and ritualistic demonstrations of loyalty. The nation thrives on spectacle: loudspeakers blare national anthems, flags whip violently in the wind, and speeches are delivered in grand public squares with mandatory attendance. The military accounts for 70% of the GDP—and citizens are proud to serve.
The national anthem, "Avalon ’Tis for Thee," is sung daily. Military uniforms are worn not just in battle but as part of formal civilian dress. Annual Hula Auana-style marches and Lei Day Hate Week blend Avalonian discipline with ironic island imagery, inspired by their national dish, Spam Musubi.
In 2025, Kaiser Kerr symbolically purchased the star Antares, declaring it Avalon's largest district. The act is seen as a triumph of will over reason and is celebrated yearly during Antares Pride Month (March).

⛪ Religion & Norp Norp
Despite official atheism, one outlawed faith remains: the Norp Norp Cult. Founded around a green inflatable dinosaur, Norp Norp is believed to be a Gnarp Gnaplian sent to Earth in 141 BN. After his crucifixion and plush rebirth, his legend grew. His church in Camelot City is tightly watched by the Omega Troops of the Ministry of Truth.
Fun fact: Norp Norp’s language, “gnarpleese,” sounds like speaking in tongues. Some believe Norp Norp was the true first leader of Avalon before Anderson’s rise.
🕰 Avalonian Time
Avalon uses its own calendar. Instead of AD/BC, the state uses BN (Before Norp) and AN (After Norp). Currently, the year is 1885 AN. Its unique time zone, Princeton Standard Time, operates at UTC −5:30.
🔤 Avalonian Newspeak
The legal language of Avalon is Newspeak, designed to eliminate ambiguity and free thought. For example, “Aircraft Carrier” becomes Airkraft Karrier. The Ministry of Truth seeks to replace all Oldspeak expressions by 1900 AN.
